An Interesting Proposition

Mon Apr 21, 2008, 3:03 PM
I had gotten this idea on a visit to :iconholderoftheclouds:
An interesting way to explore some or the wonderful artistic and literary minds here - and the same time expose others.

The first 10 deviants who post in this journal will be featured here. I will go though your gallery and choose the three deviations that I think are your best, or at least like the most. The only catch is that you, in turn, must make a journal like this where you feature ten commenter's deviations and so on.

Unlike HolderOfTheClouds I plan on commenting a bit WHY I like a particular piece. (Although you may not care)

Kinda what :devart: is all about..."Sharing the wealth" so to speak.
So why not post?
Comment away - Those inclined :)

foxkat
Only picking 3 favorites with this artist is tough. I can't spend all night looking at her prolific gallery, so I looked at all her thumbnails and then came back to what struck me most. Really a tough call!
Come With Me
A Vampy vampire, done in chalk pastel. I love the brightness of the colors, the detail in the eyes, the flow of her hair, and the (ahem) accentuation of her breasts. A simple portrait of a vampiress, but done so well!
[link]
Two Sides
Such an interesting and emotive manipulation. Dark, and using minimal colors, this artwork tells the story of us all, the two sides within, what causes ourselves to react with either "fight, or flight"
[link]
Had to do at least one self-portrait of this artist (cause I'm so easily smitten) =p
Im A Dork
There are so many more beautiful pictures of the lovely foxkat, Why have I fallen in love with this one? As self-portraits go, I dislike the background....but I love that look! Peering over her glasses, with a black derby-like hat upon her head, the portrait has a fun campiness to it. And then you take a second look...at those eyes and auburn tresses! Yes...she has better self-portraits, but there's just something about her expression in this one....

Be sure to Check out her gallery...[link]
Not exactly organized...but fun to wander through!

GypsyBlaze
Though GypsyBlaze has some photos up, she's definitely about her writing...and what emotive writing it is! Her gallery is not huge - only been on since Mid-March - but it comes straight from her heart...and pierces yours. Yes, check out her prose...A collection of well Crafted ballads, and Open prose, GypsyBlaze uses her words like strokes of a brush, painting vivid imagery...that is at times dark and...some...well a bit erotic perhaps. :blushes:
Forbidden Lust (My personal :+fav:)
Story of a love that should not be...yet so powerful how could it be stopped? And in the end...who really has affected whom?
[link]
W.T.T.P.O.M.M
Stands for Welcome to the Prison of My Mind - a dark tale of seemingly seething hatred...wanting retribution for past sins.
[link]
Another decision so hard.
GypsyBlaze has a few photos. But I think her writing is so important.
I will tell you if you visit her page, you will be greeted by an auburn-hair beauty with knowing eyes.
But back to her writing -
Out of Control
For me is dark...hard to read....and hits home.
GypsyBlaze does what a good artist should do. reaches deep within, and gives the reader...the feeling of being there...by her side...almost a personal transfusion of emotions.
A look backwards...at a cutters reasoning.

GypsyBlaze...Thank you for your way of bringing forth and sharing.
Be sure to visit and take a look at her other works!

WaterEarthGoddess
Such a wonderful eclectic mix of talent! Pencil drawings, macro photography, landscapes, portraits, prose and poetry. It's all here - and well done - Truly Amazing!
How am I suppose to select only three :?:?:?
WaterEarthGoddess has taken many of her photographic shots at Longwood Gardens - once a wondrous private estate, but has been open to the public to tour since the 1970's. There are so many places to take a good composition there, It was hard to just choose one...but I did not want her 3 to be just of this beautiful place!
I did pick one from her Longwood Series:
The Path
Not one of the more recognizable scenes of Longwood, but a quiet view of a curving garden path. But look again - the textures, the way the light is captured and filtered through the greenery, and the shades of green themselves - this display is so calming. As WaterEarthGoddess says in her comments - "Another faerie tale photo from Longwood Gardens" 'tis so true!
[link]
Bess
Such a touching story that WaterEarthGoddess starts so intriguingly...and as you read, you become drawn is so quickly. This story, of young love, though bittersweet, is written with poetic rhythmic cadence. I think we need to know more about Bess! A prologue! =P
[link]
One thing WaterEarthGoddess does not have - are self portraits (that I've seen). She seems to be a rather quietly demure about herself. So I picture her as having a broad fetching smile, with dark wavy tresses, and a glint or gleam of wonder in her eye. If I'm wrong, she'll let me know I'm sure. Perhaps one day she will allow her readers a glimpse of the artist at Longwood perhaps, but for now, I am content in seeing the world through her eye, and through her prose - the artist within is what matters.
But - I digress. My last selection is quite new in her gallery and explores the characters of Maid Marion and Robin Hood
On the Balcony
Tells the story of a meeting between Maid Marion and Robin, and a show of adoration between the two lovers. I throughly enjoy!
(I have to admit, In my mind, as I read, I imagined them as foxes. (Disney Style)
There is SO much more to read..and enjoy in her gallery. You should really visit and check Ms. WaterEarthGoddess out!!!

OK....Let me get this out of the way first...
:jawdrop::omfg::horny::crazy::spin::jawdrop:
After all, I'm a guy first, then a reviewer of :devart: Artistes.
PurfectKitty is really new here at DevArt, and as her Featured Deviation says she's one - Hot curvy mama...
So far that seems to be her theme - Sharing Self-Portraits in Various poses.
Since she doesn't have many up yet, and some are very similar to others, I can pick three pretty easy.
Back Canvas
Is just that, Ms. Kitty wanting suggestions on how to tattoo her back. (I think it's perfect as is.) "OK" you may say, "it's a beautiful woman's back, so what?" Though I wish she took more time on prepping her background - look at how the shadows play across the small of her back. That view...is sensual. If the background just had the fence grass and foliage, perhaps with a Gaussian blur to the background This would be a perfect photo for the Artistic nudes area of DevArt [link]
Me from his perspective
Ms. Kitty in a black bikini :? top and black beads...Great background of foliage and blue sky, really accentuates her auburn hair (are there a lot of redheads on :devart: - or is it me:?) Wish she were peering over her shades - then this would be even more of a sultry photo! [link]
Hot curvy mama...
Is her Featured Deviation, and in it I see what I believe is one of the most arousing parts of a woman, the nape of her neck. Decked out in Cowboy hat and flannel shirt, she shares some of her lovely assets with the viewer. I thoroughly agree with PurfectKitty's comments; Not all hotties are size 2's... we come with curves... =P
[link]
So if you like to :drool::shocked: at some wonderful Self-Portrait curves, Check out Purfectkitty. [link]

:iconbleedingdesperation:
BleedingDesperation
A young U.S. artist with a keen eye...she is all about the lens. Though her journal musings are fun, and her Digital Art is interesting, her focus (yea, that's a pun) is photography and photo-manipulation.
Amethyst
A single rose (looks like it was fixed as a boutonnière or corsage) that has had the colors manipulated to be amethyst, but the shadings are wonderful, and I enjoy the complement of the material behind, and the absence of color on the plush rug below. A very aesthetic manipulation! [link]
Through the Never
I wanted to pick one of BleedingDesperation's landscape pieces, love how she captures light, using the trees in silhouette. Also love the fact that she takes the time to frame them - not just "pop them up" onto DA. Through the Never was actually my second choice There's nothing wrong with it - at al, in fact the colors are pretty cool. I just enjoyed the title "Winter's Closure" and the branches and sky, but it has a wire in the far bottom left corner that made me lean toward "Through the Never" There are plenty others that are wonderful as well.
[link]
My last choice took the longest
Since I'm not keen on pet pictures, I didn't pick any of those. But if you enjoy that - she has some great ones that almost look as if the animal posed for her... I could have selected one of her self-portraits, as they are well done, but I don't think that BleedingDesperation is into that either. I chose one of her newer compositions -
An Old Swing
I love the saturation BleedingDesperation has used, along with the textures of wood, bark, ground and sky..and just a green hedge behind...It is calming, yet almost lonely
I think she has an overlay texture as well, but was unable to download for a closer look (darn intertubes! :))
[link]
So closing this up, BleedingDesperation has a wonderful gallery, mostly photography, and some keen photomanipulation. Watch her, I think she will be sharing some other artistic mediums (Digital Art) soon as well!
Check her out!!! [link]

It is the function of art to renew our perception. What we are familiar with we cease to see. The writer shakes up the familiar scene, and, as if by magic, we see a new meaning in it.
